Book Title: Cut
Author: Patricia McCormick
Personal Star Rating: 1.5/5 stars
Callie is a fifteen year old girl who uses self-mutilation to escape. When she is admitted into a rehabilitation facility, she doesn't want to talk about it. In fact, she doesn't speak at all at first.
I found this to be simple to read, and lacking in character development as well as an in-depth look at what it would be like with a cutting problem. Patricia McCormick uses 'you', placing the reader as the counselor. I don't know how effective this was overall.
The plot isn't very defined. Yes, it's about a girl who is in a rehabilitation center to get over her cutting problem. And at the end, yes she recovers. The events didn't seem like anything new and I don't know what the author was trying to portray with Callie.
I don't have much to say about this book. The writing wasn't exceptional, the main character was half of what she could have been and I wouldn't recommend it.
